“Flag-bearers of the Dutch psychedelic rockscene”
– OOR Magazine

BIOGRAPHY
Semuta makes it unmistakably clear that psychedelic rock is still reinventing itself.
The five-piece previously made a name for themselves as Zuster Zonnebloem, performing at major Dutch festivals such as Paaspop, Waterpop and Oerol. Music magazine OOR hailed them as flagbearers of the Dutch psychedelic rock scene, after which they played a highly successful Popronde tour in 2024 with over 30 shows, including the prestigious closing night at Melkweg in Amsterdam. The band is flawlessly attuned to one another, allowing every note to burst from the stage with passion and chemistry.
On the 17th of April, Semuta will release their debut album ‘The Circle Ends Where It Began’, celebrated with a release show at Bitterzoet, Amsterdam. Drawing influences from hard rock to soul, and from blues to indie, with a sprinkle of classical harmonies, this psychedelic rock record is a journey toward better times and mental wellbeing. Themes such as capitalism, religion, sexism and depression are explored in the search for the meaning of life. After a 45-minute musical trip, the conclusion is revealed in the very last sentence.
For this record, the band worked with Grammy-nominated producer Attie Bauw (Judas Priest, Scorpions, De Staat).
Hanne Brunekreeft – Vocals
Rick van Loon – Guitar
Timo Verlaan – Bass Guitar
